Veg Biryani
Ingredients
- Basmati rice
- onions , cauliflower, potatoes, carrot and beans(chopped)
- soy chunks (optional)
- green peas (frozen)
- green chili
- garam masala
- biryani masala
- ginger garlic paste
- 2 cardamons (elaichi)
- 2 cloves (laung)
- 1 cinnamon (dalchini)
- bay leaf (tej patta)
- Jeera
- Butter/ ghee
- Cashew nuts & Almonds (for garnishing)
Directions
- Soak 2 cups of rice in water for 10-15 minutes.
- Take a pressure cooker and add oil. heat it for few minutes.
- Add jeera , cardamon, cloves, cinnamon, bay leaf. Saute for 1-2 minutes.
- Add chopped onions and green chilies. Fry until golden.
- Add ginger garlic paste and mix well.
- Add all the veggies. Saute for 3-5 minutes.
- You can also add soy chunks. To add soy chunks soak them in hot water until soft. squeeze up the water and add.
- Add 1/2 tbsp garam masala and mix well.
- Add biryani masala and turmeric powder.
- Add 4.5 cups of water and salt.
- Add almonds and cashew nuts.
- Stir well and bring the water to a rapid boil.
- Close the pressure cooker lid and cook for about 5 minutes(2-3 whistles)
- Serve immediately !!!
